The official synopsis has been announced for Marvels Ant-Man! I’m gonna go into detail and break it down a little bit as well as provide my speculations but first lets have a read:
“The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”
Okay, let’s go through this bit by bit…
“The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man”.
Before this synopsis we knew Ant-Man will be playing a key role with the Avengers but there you go, it’s been confirmed. I think Hank Pym is going to be the majority of the tie in here rather than Scott Lang but Hank (being very old at this point) passes on the suit to Scott. Peggy Carter and Jarvis are supposedly going to be in the film so there’s going to be some flash backs featuring a younger Hank Pym for sure.

Yeah, yeah we all know Ant-Mans powers so I’m not gonna cover that part because it’s self explanatory. The main focus here is what is Hanks ‘secret’ behind his spectacular suit? In the comics Hank creates Pym Particles which is the reason why he can shrink and grow but what if there was a different reason? A more extra-terrestrial reason? If Hank was a youngster when he originally created this suit then I doubt he’d have the particular technology to do so at that time…unless space magic was involved. The new generation of threats is perhaps rivals that have stumbled upon the secrets and stole it for themselves to make their own variants which is obvious due to the fact the villain in this film is Yellow Jacket. Check out the concept art below:
“Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world”.
Right, this is why I think the Time Gem may be involved! This is just a theory so if I’m wrong don’t kill me! Because there’s going to be a lot of Peggy Carter and Jarvis in this film then I can expect that perhaps this heist features a bit of time travel for Scott Lang? Perhaps Hank was the Ant-Man in the 1950’s or whatever and used the suit for crime fighting etc as a secret service for baby SHIELD. Maybe back then a rival obtained copies of the suit but couldn’t harness a replicate suit until present day (which is why Scott is involved). Perhaps they obtained copies but they were lost until now (present day). 70 year old Hank is worried about it and he’s too darn old to do anything about it now! He passes on the suit to Scott so he can go back in time and pull off some sort of heist to alter the events in the future which is indeed a ‘seemingly insurmountable obstacle’ if you ask me. I think this could happen…if not something similar? Hydra was working inside of SHIELD, maybe they create a replica? If my time travel theory is right, how did these guys get hold of the time gem? Plus, why on Earth is a heavily prestigious scientist friends with a master thief in the first place? Maybe Hank wears the suit one last time to bust Scott out of jail in need of his help. I think Hank has some input with Ultron too, in the past of course. In the Avengers synopsis it says Tony kickstarts an old peacekeeping project. Maybe Hank started it and shelved it because it was deemed too dangerous and Tony stumbles across it and attempts to finish it off? Maybe it was a two person project and whoever Hank was working with was Hydra and then implements himself into the body of Ultron (James Spader’s character, not just the voice of Ultron). Hank prevents this and stops the project… but then Tony finds it in present day and thinks, “hmm, wonder why this was never finished. Not to fear, I’ll finish it! Plus we could do with crime fighting robots because this is tiring!” Am I right? Am I wrong? We don’t know just yet but we shall see!….aaaannd I think Hanks gonna die and leave Scott with the suit and all of his research- what? Nothing!
Thanks for reading! If you’ve got any ideas or you think i’m hilariously wrong then do let me know! 🙂
